In the wake of the EU referendum it is necessary that the ongoing public and political debate is better informed by research- and evidence-informed commentary in the interests of a more inclusive, progressive, rational, egalitarian, sustainable and democratic future. This is essential now because the decision to leave the EU opens up a whole range of constitutional, social and economic policy, and international relations issues which must be subject to much more informed debate than demonstrated in the problematic referendum campaigns.
